Contractors Classification

Estimated Time:

The classification committee is formed of multi-specialization and administrative references experts from the public and private sectors, and headed by the director general of the Government Tenders Department. Therefore, this committee holds meetings when there is a suitable number of applications to be looked into. However, the time needed to complete this service is about two weeks if the applications are complete.

The conditions and requirements mentioned in the foregoing items address the main requirements of this service. As this service contains many categories, classes, and specializations, each category, class, and specialization has its own nature that must be considered by the person who is willing to apply for this service. The completion of this service requires the cooperation of a number of public and private institutions such as the Ministry of Industry and Trade, municipalities, Amman Municipality, Traffic License Department, the Central Bank, commercial banks, Engineers Association, and Contractors Association.

The certificate granted for this service allows the obtainer to participate in the construction tenders published by the public sector institutions in accordance with his financial, technical, and administrative capabilities required by the basics of participation in these projects.

Procedures


The procedures:
1.    To submit a classification application to the Government Tenders Department in accordance with the approved form along with the required documents in due form.
2.    The application is reviewed by the Department for its completeness. 
3.    The application is presented to the competent classification committee.
4.    If the application is complete, a certificate shall be issued to the company or establishment for three years and approved by the Minister. 

Required Documents

The required documents: 
1-    He should be an active member in the Jordanian Contractors Association.    
2-    He should be licensed as a construction contractor pursuant to the provisions of the Construction Contractors Law No. 13 for the year 1987 provided the licensing decision is valid at the time of submitting the classification application.
3-    He should be registered with the Companies Controller or in the Commercial Register of the Ministry of Industry and Trade provided that the purpose of registration is to carry out contracting subject to the approval of the classification committee prior to any modification or change to the register of the company in the companies controller or commercial register of the Ministry of Industry and Trade.
4-    He should have obtained a valid Occupational License.
5-    He should have an adequate office which is compatible with his classification category.  
6-    He should submit certificates issued by the Engineers Association that show the names of the full-time Engineers working for him.
7-    He should submit new bank certificates proving his financial solvency.
8-    He should have the administrative and technical staff, equipment and experience provided for in the classification instructions for each field.
