PM inaugurates MENA ICT forum at Dead Sea

Dead Sea, Nov. 16 (Petra) -- Deputizing for His Majesty King Abdullah II, Prime Minister Bisher Khasawneh inaugurated the 9th edition of the Middle East and North Africa Information and Communications Technology (MENA ICT) Forum at the Dead Sea's King Hussein Bin Talal Convention Center.

The forum, which was attended by Her Royal Highness Princess Sumaya bint El-Hassan, President of the Royal Scientific Society, is organized by the Information and Communications Technology Association "Intaj" in partnership with the Ministry of Digital Economy and Entrepreneurship, the Ministry of Investment and the Central Bank of Jordan, bringing together 77 representatives of 50 investment funds in the region, and about 2,000 participants, including officials, experts and specialists in the public and private sectors, representing 40 countries.

Over the course of two days, more than 145 speakers will take part in discussion sessions and presentations, and 154 presenters showcasing their products and business solutions, including 63 companies.

Minister of Digital Economy and Entrepreneurship Ahmed Hananda said the ICT sector in Jordan is one of the largest in terms of growth, adding that he is proud of the achievements and success stories.

He underscored that the ministry will do its utmost to enable the sector to expand locally, regionally and globally, play a key role in economic growth and provide job opportunities.

The ministry, he indicated, is looking to make Jordan a regional hub for communications and information technology, pointing to skilled individuals in the field, the infrastructure, the royal vision and government support.
